For the Community – Our Corporate Social Responsibility
Powerscourt is proud to give back to the community by offering our specialist skills pro-bono to good causes; supporting charities chosen by our employees; and sharing our time and expertise to help the PR & communications industry to become more diverse.
Our Pro-Bono Work
Our recent pro-bono work covers a range of topics and sectors, and includes:
- Championing the Global Media Campaign project to end FGM.
- Supporting Azeem Rafiq’s fight against racism in cricket.
- Working with Charlotte Caldwell, the mother of Billy Caldwell, the epileptic boy whose case was instrumental in the legalisation of medical cannabis in 2018. Charlotte has been working to gain commitments from medical cannabis manufacturers to gift medical cannabis to refractory epilepsy patients whilst they await NHS funding.
- In the past, we have also provided ad hoc pro bono support to the Galapagos Conservation Trust, which aims to protect the vulnerable ecosystems found on Galapagos, and Little Village, a movement of parents committed to alleviating child poverty.
In 2021-22, our pro-bono work equated to well over £100,000 of PR & Communications advice, and we continue to look for new opportunities to use our expertise to support good causes.
Our Support for Charities
Our Culture, Philanthropy & Sustainability Committee chooses a charity annually for our employees to support. All employees can take 1 day per year to get involved in supporting our chosen charity.

THE TAYLOR BENNETT FOUNDATION is a charity created to encourage black, Asian and minority ethnic graduates to pursue a career in communications. In May 2022 we hosted a half-day workshop for 8 BAME graduates on the Taylor Bennett Foundation Summer Programme- participants took part in interactive presentations on various aspects of PR & Comms from our senior employees, and then met our Graduate Trainees to find out more about our graduate programme.
We look forward to hosting another workshop in 2023, and in the meantime we have advertised our graduate vacancies through the Foundation. |

THE 1-HOUR PROJECT is a voluntary organisation which matches professionals with university students from less advantaged socio-economic backgrounds, typically the first generation in their family to attend university. The project aims to bridge the gap between these students and those from more advantaged backgrounds, who have access to professional networks, contacts who can help them find roles, and professional coaching to prepare them for graduate recruitment processes. Without these advantages, many graduates with potential get left behind. Professionals volunteer one hour of their time to advise a student on how to get started in their chosen industry, and how to succeed.
Many of our employees, including our Senior Management Team, are involved with the Project, helping students gain confidence, insight and industry knowledge at the start of their careers.
